Three members reflect on a decade of rider organizing
Did you know that Riders Alliance is celebrating a decade of rider organizing this year? To mark this milestone, we’re taking a ride down memory lane with three members of our amazing community: grassroots and sustaining member Kevin Ritter; staff member Danna Dennis, and board member Tolani Adeboye.
Riders need a real safety plan for our subway
New York City’s subway has become a flashpoint in the national debate over crime, and our leaders have struggled to come up with viable solutions that don’t involve flooding the subway system with more NYPD officers.
The result has been an uptick in broken windows tactics, which have not made our subway system any more safe, inviting, or reliable for the millions that depend on it.
Today we are releasing a Riders Plan for Public Safety to address the root causes of the issues at the core of riders’ sense of safety on the subway—created in partnership with experts in the subjects of transit, housing, healthcare, policing reform, and affordability.

People Power Transit! And enacting change starts with knowing who we can hold accountable. So, who’s really in charge of transit in NYC, anyway?
With new leaders in Albany and City Hall, it’s time to reignite the fight for #BetterBuses

Calling on the Governor to adopt a #RidersAgenda
We’re calling on the Governor to adopt a #RidersAgenda in the state budget to stop the fare hike, deliver 6-minute subway and bus service, double down on accessibility, and implement congestion pricing ASAP. Take action today!
Bus Rider Blues: 50 reasons why New York City needs a champion for #BetterBuses
Our City’s bus network faces a crisis, and so do the two million people who ride the bus every day. Today we’re unveiling Bus Rider Blues, a story book compiling 50 agonizing accounts of slow and unreliable buses from riders across the city.
